Nursing Program Application Withdrawal Form
Fall Application
Students who anticipate enrolling in the beginning nursing courses, NURS 220 and NURS 222 for the fall semester need to submit a completed Application to Nursing Program: Enrollment Form by April 15th of the preceding spring semester.
Spring Application
Students who anticipate enrolling in the beginning nursing courses, NURS 220 and NURS 222 for the spring semester need to submit a completed Application to the Nursing Program: Enrollment Form by October 15th of the preceding fall semester.
Admission Requirements for Application
- Submission of an Enrollment Form signed by the faculty advisor to the School of Nursing by October 15 or April 15 of the preceding semester.*
- Completion of the College Mathematics and Writing Requirements.**
- A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 of courses taken at all colleges/universities.
- Completion of Biology 231, Chemistry 106, and Psychology 230, with a minimum grade of C and a minimum overall grade point average of 2.67 (B-) in these 3 courses.
* Students may apply to the Nursing Program no more than three times.

Application Process
- Complete the Application to Nursing Program: Enrollment Form. Applications can be obtained in the School of Nursing, FLS 155.
- Basic students should attach a student copy of their current RIC transcript.
- Transfer students must attach transcripts with grades for all courses taken elsewhere - an official or legible student copy is acceptable.
- Second Degree Candidates must attach a copy of their Signed Plan of Study and attach transcripts with grades for all courses taken elsewhere - an official or legible student copy is acceptable.
- Make an appointment to meet with your faculty advisor in the School of Nursing and obtain his or her signature with date of application prior to submitting the application to the School of Nursing.
- Submit the signed and completed application with attached transcripts and Signed Plan of Study for second degree candidates, to the office assistant in Fogarty Life Science 155 prior to the April 15th or October 15th deadline for applications.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I apply for enrollment as a nursing major?
Students who are admitted to Rhode Island College as Intended Nursing majors must complete and submit an Enrollment Form to the School of Nursing by April 15th or October 15th of the semester prior to the semester they expect to begin Nursing courses. At the time of enrollment application, students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or better, and have completed or be enrolled in the cognates Biology 231, Psychology 230 and Chemistry 106 with a grade of C or better and an overall cognate GPA of 2.67 or better.

Do you have an honors program?
Undergraduate nursing majors of superior scholastic ability are eligible to participate in the honors program. During the junior and senior years, qualified students may pursue independent study or advanced work in the field. Upon completion of the program, a student will be awarded the Bachelor of Science with honors in nursing. Details of the application process and program procedures are available in the student handbook for nursing majors.

Do I have to be a full-time student?
No, many of our students choose to enroll part time on a semester by semester basis while preparing to enroll into the nursing program. Once admitted to the program, students are expected to pursue a full-time schedule of study.

Will I be eligible to practice nursing?
Graduates of the program are eligible to apply to take the NCLEX-RN examination for licensure as a registered nurse in any state.

Who are our faculty?
We have 37 full-time faculty teaching in the School of Nursing, each with a Master's Degree in a nursing specialty. Twenty-three of our faculty are doctorally prepared. Many hold national certifications.
