Tutor and Mentor Program
The School of Nursing provides support for nursing students through the Peer Tutor Program.
Peer Mentor Program: Students who have completed one year of the Nursing Program volunteer to mentor new students (mentees) who have just been accepted and are taking beginning level courses to assist in the transition. Typically, the mentors and mentees meet face to face*, virtual or through email, texts, or phone during the semester for support and advice. Many mentees keep in touch with their mentors following the completion of their first year of nursing courses and become mentors themselves. Accepted nursing students receive information about the mentoring program at the beginning of the semester. Anyone who would like to learn more about being a mentor or mentee can contact Dr. Jennifer Fearon-Lynch at
jfearonlynch@ric.edu, FLS 141.
*Face to face meetings temporarily on hold.
Peer Tutor Program: Fellow students provide tutoring in nursing content for students who need extra help in nursing classes. Tutoring is private, confidential, and offerred online. Peer tutoring is free and can be individual or in groups, by virtual appointment through OASIS. Anyone who would like to learn more about the peer tutoring program can contact Dr. Jennifer Fearon-Lynch at
jfearonlynch@ric.edu, FLS 141.
