Art Department

The Department of Art provides a dynamic environment for learning.

Students and faculty maintain high standards in a competitive yet supportive community. Our program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) and by the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC).

Programs

Art Department programs include, the B.A. in Studio Art, B.F.A. in Studio Art, Minor in Studio Art, B.A. in Art History, Minor in Art History, B.S. in Art Education, B.F.A. in Art Education, M.A. in Art (concentration in Art Education), M.A.T. in Art Education, and M.A. in Art (concentration in Media Studies).

Studio Art Concentrations include Ceramics, Digital Media Design, Graphic Design, Metalsmithing & Jewelry Design, Painting, Photography, Printmaking and Sculpture.

Foundations

A strong foundations program is essential to the understanding of basic concepts that students will need in their study of art. Students begin by completing a comprehensive series of courses in drawing and design. In-depth research of basic drawing, two-dimensional and three-dimensional concepts offer students the foundation they will need to fulfil their academic goals.

Transfer Students

To request that transferred studio art course credits be accepted for RIC Art Program Credit, students must submit a portfolio to the Department of Art. Please refer to the Transfer Student​ section for Adobe PDFTransfer Guidelines and Application Form .
