CITI Training and Responsible Conduct of Research Procedures

Federal regulations mandate that institutions use a program to promote responsible and ethical research conduct. For this reason, RIC has contracted with the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program. CITI provides web-based educational resources in research, ethics, regulatory oversight, responsible conduct of research, and more. All Principal Investigators (PIs) and Senior Personnel working on grant funded projects must complete trainings on Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) and Conflict of interest (COI), which can be found on the CITI website. Students working on NIH- or NSF-sponsored research projects must also complete the appropriate Responsible Conduct of Research module. More information on CITI and RCR training can be found in the Policies and Procedures handbook.

Instructions for Completing the CITI Program

Complete the course entitled: "Responsible Conduct of Research Course." Participants are only obligated to complete the required modules; however, completing one or more of the optional case study modules is strongly encouraged.

When training is completed, print the CITI completion certificate and retain it for your records. It will not be necessary to submit a copy to OSP. The office will receive confirmation of participant completion directly from the CITI Program. Submit a copy of the completion certificate to the respective compliance committee if one is requested.

RCR Training Workshops will be announced in the Research Announcements & OSP Events section of this website.
