Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault

Outside LinkDay One - The Sexual Assault & Trauma Resource Center:
Day One is the only agency in Rhode Island that is specifically organized to deal with issues of sexual assault as a community concern. We provide treatment, intervention, education, advocacy, and prevention services to Rhode Islanders of all ages—from preschool children to elderly adults. Additionally, we advocate for public policy initiatives and systemic changes that positively impact how Rhode Island families handle sexual abuse cases. Our comprehensive services include: 24-hour Helpline and legal advocacy; law enforcement advocacy programs; individual and group counseling; professional training sessions; prevention education workshops

Outside LinkDomestic Violence Program of Crossroads:
The Domestic Violence Program is primarily an emergency shelter program with a focus on safety and housing. The shelter provides safety for domestic violence survivors and their children in a confidential location separate from other Crossroads properties. The domestic violence program also includes transitional housing and a 24-hour helpline. Clients will have access to Crossroads Rhode Island’s range of services, including basic needs assistance, education and employment services, and intensive case management, while they work to find a secure and stable home.

The purpose of the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence is to eliminate domestic violence in Rhode Island. Our mission is to support and enhance the work of our member agencies and to provide leadership on the issue of domestic violence.

Outside LinkSojourner House:
Sojourner House is a comprehensive domestic violence agency.  Every day, we serve victims of relationship violence by providing shelter, advocacy, referrals, and other resources.  In our mission to end violence, we also work in our surrounding communities to provide violence prevention education programs. We know that violence can happen in a cycle, and it is our mission to help interrupt and prevent that cycle from continuing.

Planned Parenthood is your trusted source for STD/STI testing, birth control, pregnancy tests and counseling, emergency contraception and more - all in a convenient, confidential and safe environment. We have a sliding fee scale based on your income and participate with many insurance plans.

Social Services

Outside LinkComprehensive Community Action Program:
To empower all people and communities, challenged by poverty as well as social and cultural barriers, through advocacy, education, and access to high quality health and human services. Programs include family health services, child care centers and Head Start, and job training.

This Guide provides information about government assistance programs and community-based resources that help low- and modest-income Rhode Islanders meet basic needs. The Guide provides a general overview, eligibility rules and application information for each program in the areas of Income Supports, Food Assistance, Health Care, Child Care, Housing, Utilities and Tax Credits.

Outside LinkGirls on the Run:
We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running.
Meeting twice a week after-school in small teams of 15 girls, we teach life skills through fun, engaging lessons that celebrate the joy of movement. The 20-lesson curriculum is taught by certified Girls on the Run® coaches and includes three parts: understanding ourselves, valuing relationships and teamwork and understanding how we connect with and shape the world at large.
