Background

Carolyn Fortuna, Ph.D. is graduate of the Joint Doctoral Program in Education at Rhode Island College and the University of Rhode Island. A full-time high school teacher, Carolyn’s educational reform efforts are grounded in social justice and digital media literacy and learning. The recipient of the 2015 International Literacy Association’s Grand Prize Award for Technology and Reading, Fortuna infuses multigenre, multimodal, and transcultural instruction into the classroom to help students learn about the social construction of gender, especially within the world of sport.

Dr. Carolyn Fortuna (@c4tuna31) is a digital media literacy scholar and past recipient of the International Literacy Association Grand Prize for Reading and Technology. A retired high school English teacher and climate change activist, Dr. Carolyn writes for the online environmental site, CleanTechnica.
