Rhode Island College awards undergraduate degrees to 1,400 students during the 159th commencement exercise on Saturday, May 18, at 9:30 a.m.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Rhode Island College will award undergraduate degrees to 1,400 students during the 159th commencement exercise on Saturday, May 18, at 9:30 a.m.

Marie Petrarca, an ardent supporter of the arts community in Rhode Island, will deliver the commencement address.

Honorary degree recipients include Marie Elizabeth Petrarca, Robert Horace Petrarca and Henry Lesieur.

Honored guests include RIC President Nancy Carriuolo, Gov. Lincoln D. Chafee, U.S. Sen. Jack Reed, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, Congressman James R. Langevin, Congressman David Cicilline, Providence Mayor Angel Taveras, North Providence Mayor Charles A. Lombardi and state Board of Education Chair Eva-Marie Mancuso.
