Rhode Island College Named One of the 20 Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs

College receives high marks for focus on workplace diversity, staffing practices and work environment

Providence, RI – Rhode Island College is proud to be named one of The Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs for 2019 by the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) and the magazine Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. The college is one of 20 selected from hundreds around the country along with institutions such as Virginia Tech, California State Polytechnic Institute-San Luis Obispo, and The Ohio State University. Rhode Island College is one of only two institutions in New England to be recognized, along with the University of Vermont.

The sixth annual list spotlights institutions of higher education for their focus on workplace diversity, staffing practices and work environment. Colleges are evaluated on criteria such as family friendliness, salary/benefits, and professional development opportunities.

"I am proud to receive this honor on behalf of all my colleagues," says Vice President for Student Success Jason Meriwether. "This confirms what I experience every day working alongside the incredible team in our Division of Student Success: that Rhode Island College is a national leader in workplace diversity and inclusion. These values reflect our larger commitment to creating a diverse and equitable educational community that is representative of and supports the success of students from all backgrounds."

The complete findings will be published in the March 7 edition of Diverse: Issues in Higher Education and Rhode Island College will be recognized at the ACPA Awards Ceremony on March 4 in Boston.
