Rhode Island College 2013 Earth Day Celebration to highlight new campus garden, launch of the Green Business Forum speaker series, and recipient of the 2013 RIC Green Team Award

PROVIDENCE, RI – Earth Day (April 22) has marked the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement each year since 1970. Rhode Island College will join in the worldwide commemoration with its 2013 Earth Day Celebration from April 22 to 26.

Rhode Island College Earth Day events include:

E-waste Collection Drive with Goodwill Industries and RIC Greek Life
April 22-26 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., on College Road next to Lot B

Presentation of the 2013 RIC Green Team Award
April 24 at 10 a.m. (recipient and location TBA)

Ribbon-cutting for the new Campus Garden, managed by the RIC Environmental Club
April 24 at 12:30 p.m., garden site at the corner of Fruit Hill Avenue and Hennessey Avenue

Trash Can Dump to analyze RIC recycling habits, with the Rhode Island College Department of Anthropology and RIC Environmental Club
April 24 at 1:30 p.m., campus quad

Green Business Forum: Sustainability in the Building Industry
Launch of speaker series examining best practices in sustainable business and industry
Sponsored by RIC and Gilbane Building Company
April 25, 7 p.m., Forman C
