Rhode Island College, Office of College Communications and Marketing, News Release

For the second year in a row, Washington Monthly’s “The Other College Guide” has ranked Rhode Island College sixth in the Northeast for “Best Bang for the Buck” among more than 400 four-year degree-granting institutions. RIC was the only Rhode Island-based college or university to rank among the top 100 schools in the region in 2015.

The criteria Washington Monthly used included the student loan default rate, tuition costs, percentage of Pell Grant recipients, percentage of applicants admitted and ACT/SAT performance. In the 2015-16 academic year, RIC in-state tuition and fees total $8,197. While tuition and fees for out-of-state residents total $19,858, under the college’s Metropolitan Tuition Policy, tuition and fees for non-Rhode Island residents living within 50 miles of Providence’s center total $11,756 – a 40-percent discount.
