PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Rhode Island College’s new Symphony Orchestra conductor, Alexey Shabalin, will present his inaugural concert on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 8 p.m. in the Auditorium in Roberts Hall, 600 Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence. (Admission $10.)

Shabalin, a violinist and concertmaster, graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in 1995. He is artist-director of the Rhode Island Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, and he founded and conducts the Rhode Island Youth Soloists. His posts include assistant conductor of the MIT Symphony, chamber music coach at Brown University and conductor of Providence College’s Symphony Orchestra.
