B.S. in Health Care Administration

The B.S. in Health Care Administration (HCA) provides baccalaureate-level education and training for students considering careers in the health care industry. The program is specifically targeted for those pursuing supervisory and entry-level management positions and/or preparation for graduate education. The program represents a unique collaboration between the School of Business ​and the School of Nursing with significant contributions from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the Feinstein School of Education and Human Development.

This four-year, 120-credit interdisciplinary program was crafted based upon accrediting body standards, best practices of existing programs around the nation, and the recommendations of experts, and utilizes courses from 18 different majors. The HCA major also incorporates an internship and an integrative capstone experience. For their restricted electives, students are offered choices within gerontology, human resource management, informatics, management foundations, and wellness. There is also a minor in HCA.

M.S. in Health Care Administration

The M.S. in Health Care Administration focuses on the organization, financing and management of health care organizations and the delivery of health care services in the United States. The program will prepare students for management careers in health care in the private and public sectors, including careers in public health, hospitals, long-term care, home/community-based care and health insurance. The program is also appropriate for those seeking positions in health policy. The curriculum focuses on leadership, performance improvement, organizational theory/behavior, health care finance and law. The program will offer an internship opportunity, which will allow students to apply their classroom knowledge in a health care setting. Numerous seminar, conference and networking opportunities will be made possible through faculty relationships with professional organizations and associations in the health care industry. The curriculum focuses on leadership skills, trends in health care and health care policy, health, finance and health laws and ethics.​
