The Ocean State Film Society is the student film club here at Rhode Island College. We host a variety of screenings and events throughout the academic year, along with a film festival each fall and spring to showcase student work made in and out of class. Students of all disciplines and majors are welcome to join the Film Society!

Claudine Griggs, Director of the Writing Center here at RIC, will be introducing and discussing the episode "Helping Hand," part of Tim Miller and David Fincher's Netflix series Love, Death & Robots to students in FILM 221 (Film History II). This episode is an adaptation of a short story that she wrote. All are welcome to hear her adventures with Tim Miller, Netflix, and more!​

Alison Paul, Assistant Professor of Illustration and Animation at the University of Connecticut, will be screening and discussing her stopmotion films to students in FILM 377 (2-D Animation). This event is being sponsored by the Ocean State Film Society and is free and open to all!

RIC is proud to host three free screenings in Gaige 100 as part of the 4th Annual Caleidoscope Indian Film Festival. 

On Wednesday, December 5th, we screen the drama 'Juze' at 6:30. 

On Saturday, December 8th, our double feature starts at noon with the thriller 'Aami Joy Chatterjee' (Manoj Michigan, 2018), followed at 3:00 by the drama 'Half Widow' (Danish Renzu, 2017). Note that we are planning for the producer of 'Aami Joy Chatterjee,' Shivanggi Choudharry, to be in attendance! 

​These screenings are made possible through the sponsorship support of the Ocean State Film Society, the Indian Association of Rhode Island, and Dr. Tanni Chaudhuri in the Sociology Department. 

These RIC screenings are all free and open to the public! On Saturday, Donovan Dining will offer India-inspired concessions for purchase.
