Associate Professor Filipek has taught a variety of courses at the College since 1990 and has served as Department Chair from 2002 to 2011. He has been a C.P.A. (Certified Public Accountant) in Massachusetts since 1979 and spent several years in private industry as a Controller and Vice President of Finance. He began his career in public accounting with the predecessor firm of Ernst & Young, an international public accounting firm. He has consulted for U.S. and foreign companies as well as in the non-profit sector and has served on several non-profit boards of directors.
