RIC HOSTS PERFORMANCE BY
SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE’S KATE MCKINNON

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Rhode Island College will host a performance by Saturday Night Live’s Kate McKinnon on Tuesday, April 21 at 8 p.m. in the Auditorium in Roberts Hall, 600 Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence. The event is sponsored by the RIC Office of Student Activities.

Tickets for this event are $5 in advance and $10 at the door and are on sale at the Nazarian Center Box Office in Roberts Hall, by calling (401) 456-8144 and online at the RIC Box Office.

McKinnon recently was nominated for two 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards (Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Original Music & Lyrics, “Twin Bed”) and received a 2014 Best Supporting Actress American Comedy Award for her work on SNL.

McKinnon joined the cast of SNL in 2012 and has garnered much praise for her work on the show, including making GQ’s The 15 Funniest People Alive Right Now! list in May 2014.

She has several upcoming film appearances, including in Jared Hess’s “Masterminds” opposite actors Zach Galifiniakis, Kristen Wigg and Owen Wilson and in Jason Moore’s “Sisters” opposite SNL alums Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

McKinnon has can be seen on the Independent Film Channel’s Comedy “Bang Bang” on in several Broadway Video’s Above Average online shorts.

Prior to joining the cast of SNL, McKinnon was a regular performer at New York’s Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, where she gained a following for her three one-on-one woman shows, which she also wrote.

McKinnon studied theater at Columbia University, where she co-founded a musical improve comedy group.
