FALL BLACKBOARD PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS

Basics Boot Camp - Using Blackboard to Support Your Courses

User Support Services (USS) and the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning (FCTL) will offer two sessions of the "Basics Boot Camp" this August.

Monday, August 22th 9am-11:30am Horace Mann 140

Wednesday, August 24th 4:30pm-7:00pm Horace Mann 140

By the end of this workshop, faculty will:

  • Build a basic menu system in Blackboard.
  • Upload a syllabus.
  • Add course content.
  • Add email functionality within the course.

Register: Email ittraining@ric.edu. Include your name, department and which day you want to attend. We will confirm your registration.

Prior to the workshop: Request that Blackboard be activated for your course. Allow at least two days for Information Services to process your request. Instructions can be found here: how to request a course for blackboard.

Bring: A paper and electronic copy of your syllabus and 2-3 documents (in electronic form) that you want to use in your course.

NEW! Blackboard Fall 2016 Help Sessions

User Support Services (USS) and the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning (FCTL) will offer one-on-one sessions on course design and Blackboard course implementation. These one-hour sessions are by appointment only on Thursday, August 25th between 9:00am-5:00pm in Horace Mann 140.

These Help Sessions are intended to help faculty with specific topic areas, such as:

  • Creating assignments and giving students feedback
  • Creating tests, using test pools, and Respondus
  • Developing rubrics
  • How to migrate your previous course into your Fall 2016 course
  • Online course design that is consistent with your syllabus
  • Organizing, building, and managing course content
  • Uploading and using video content
  • Using blogs
  • Using discussions
  • Using journalsUsing wikis
