Student Organization Office Space Handbook
Student Union/Media Center

This guide is for the convenience of your student organization and should be shared with all members of your group so that they can also be aware of information pertaining to your office space. Suggestions relating to this guide or office related questions/concerns are welcome. Also, please remember to update the Student Union department as contact information changes to assist with clear communication.

Office Door Access

Presidents of all groups should complete a Door Access Request form that includes a list of current student members, along with their student ID numbers, who are permitted access to the office. The Member Access form will be kept on record and can be updated by the organizational president, upon request.

Access to the offices in the Student Union will only be allowed during Student Union operation hours.

Heating and Air Conditioning

To maximize the full potential of the heating and air conditioning system, please keep windows closed at all times. To adjust the regulation of the thermostat, please contact:

Telephone

The telephone is for the use of all organization occupants for on campus, business related calls only. Arrangements for off campus and long distance calls can be made with the telephone office by dialing 0.

Internet Access

All offices have access to the Internet by wire connection and wireless (http://www.ric.edu/studenttoolbox/student_faq.htm) as well. If you have any questions regarding activation or access, contact:

Mail Boxes

Mailboxes for all organizations with Institutional Recognition are located in the Student Mail Booth, Student Union, Second Floor Lobby. During school vacation breaks your mail will be available in the Student Union Office, Student Union #408.

Recycling

To assist in preserving the resources of the earth, your efforts to participate in the college’s recycling efforts is encouraged and appreciated. Large bins for the Student Union are located outside of the Student Union department, Room 408. The list of items to be placed in the green recycle bins can be viewed at http://www.ric.edu/facilitiesOperations/pages/recycling.aspx. Empty bottles and cans can be placed in the blue bins.

Trash Removal

A trash dumpster is located near the loading dock outside of the Café. Student groups are encouraged to care for the removal of their own trash. However, any assistance that is needed can be requested through Mark M. Paolucci in the Student Union department.
