Gerontology Minor and Certificate Program

As the first gerontology program in the state of Rhode Island, RIC’s multidisciplinary program leads to a Minor or Certificate in gerontology and equips students with a systematic grounding in the study of aging, enabling graduates to successfully work in settings that provide services or advocacy to an aged population. It is open to undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education students and can be combined with any major. Matriculating students who complete the course requirements will receive a Minor in Gerontology; non-matriculants will receive a Certificate in Gerontology. The course requirements are the same for the Minor and the Certificate. Courses on aging are offered through the Schools of Arts & Sciences, Education, Nursing and Social Work.
