What is Transition?
Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (P.L. 105-17), a
primary purpose of the law is to "ensure that all children with
disabilities have available to them a free appropriate public education
that emphasizes special education and related services designed to meet
their unique needs and prepare them for employment and independent living
(34 CFR 6 300.1(a))."
To this end, the Sherlock Center has worked in partnership with public and private
organizations to improve transition services for students with
disabilities as they move from school to adult life.
