Network role: System Advocacy
Priorities:
  • To support the development of a statewide cross-disability network.
  • To educate policy makers and legislators about self determination.
  • To support the development of self-advocacy skills of individuals with DD.
  • To increase access of adults with disabilities to adult continuing education programs.
  • To provide leadership and self-determination training opportunities for persons with DD and their families to influence public policy.
Disability Rights Rhode Island (DRRI)
Network role: Legal Advocacy
Priorities:
  • To ensure that reports of abuse or neglect of persons with disabilities are addressed in a timely and effective manner
  • Development of services for parents with disabilities to preserve or reunify families.
  • To assist Social Security beneficiaries regarding employment.
  • To promote full participation in the electoral process for persons with disabilities.
  • Access to health care services and educational programs for persons with traumatic brain injury.

  • Early intervention and access to general curriculum in school
  • Transition and employment supports
