Supporting Infants and Toddlers with Vision Impairments

Early Intervention supports families to maximize the development of infants and toddlers with visual impairments. As part of their IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan) team, the Vision Specialist will support the child in their natural environment that includes their home, community and childcare setting. The Vision Specialists make use of everyday routines and activities as a means of helping children access the world around them. Children receive vision services from the program in which the child is enrolled. The Paul V. Sherlock Center on Disabilities at RI College supports selected administrative processes such as the management of referrals.
