Michael DeQuattro
Background
Michael DeQuattro is Adjunct Instructor of percussion at Rhode Island College and is an active freelance performer in Providence and Boston. He received the Bachelor of Science in music education from Rhode Island College and the Master of Music in percussion performance from the Boston Conservatory. His performing experience is extremely varied, including theater orchestras, jazz ensembles, symphony orchestras, and rock bands; he is accomplished in many styles including tango, improvisational, world, jazz, classical, and blues. He has performed with notable artists such as The Moody Blues, opera singer Maria Spacagnia, and marimbist Nanae Mimura. He has also been involved with many modern dancers and dance companies as accompanist and composer, including Groundwerx, Fusion Works, Artie Zane, Shawn Curren, Heidi Henderson, Kathy Smith, Kelly Wicky-Davis, Dante Del Giudice, Jennifer Scanlon, Diane Noya, Melody Ward, and Clay Taglifaro. Michael and has performed with The Rhode Island Festival Ballet, Boston Festival Orchestra, Rhode Island Civic Chorale, Great Woods Festival Orchestra, and Rhode Island Philharmonic. He has also performed with the Broadway production "Freak Show," The Big Nazo Band, The Smoking Jackets, and The Kim Trusty Band. In addition to his work at Rhode Island College, he teaches at The Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School and Roger Williams University.
