Academic Background

Judith Lynn Stillman is Professor of Music and Artist-in-Residence at Rhode Island College, where she teaches applied piano, chamber music ensemble, piano ensemble, accompanying, piano master class, and serves as Artistic Director of the Chamber Music Series. Having received Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees from Juilliard, where she was awarded the Dethier Prize for Outstanding Pianist, Stillman has a major international career, performing each summer at the Grand Teton Music Festival as well as European and American tours and festivals.

Her discography includes "On the Twentieth Century" with Wynton Marsalis (Sony) and recordings on North Star Music, SONY Music, Artegra, and the Borromeo String Quartet's "Living Archive" Series. Stillman received the First Pell Award for Excellence in the Arts, performed at the Grammy's for Rostropovich, at Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Recital Hall, Merkin Hall, and in recital with Cho-Liang Lin, Wynton Marsalis,
Water Trampler, Martin Chalifour (concertmaster, LA Philharmonic), David Kim (concertmaster, Philadelphia Orchestra), Robert Davidovich (concertmaster, Vancouver Symphony), Peter Oundjian, Todd Phillips, Carol Wincenc, the Muir, Moscow, and Borromeo String Quartets, the Israel Philharmonic Chamber Players. Stillman has given master classes at the Prague Conservatory of Music in the Czech Republic, and is currently working on a recording with New York Philharmonic flutist Mindy Kaufman. Stillman received both the Maixner Award for Outstanding Teaching and the Thorpe Award for Outstanding Scholarly and Creative Activity at Rhode Island College.
