Dance Performance Program

RICDanceProgramDance requires an articulate body informed by broad cultural knowledge and a cultivated aesthetic sensibility. Rhode Island College offers an exciting program in dance that combines a strong academic curriculum with performance and training opportunities provided by a professional caliber student ensemble.

An undergraduate major in dance performance was established at the College in 2000. The major course work encourages individual discipline, creativity and expression by placing equal emphasis on the three aspects of dance study: style and technique, composition and performance, history and theory. As dance study at RIC has been possible for decades through the College's Student-Designed Major option, many of our graduates are presently working professionally as performers, choreographers, and educators throughout the northeast. The Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance also offers a twenty-credit minor in dance that may be taken with any major at the College.
