Healthy Jobs RI Training Programs and Services

Behavioral Health Certificate Program

Employer partners identified the need for enhanced worker training as behavioral and physical healthcare become more integrated. The partnership has developed a 30-hour Behavioral Health Certificate program to introduce front-line healthcare workers to the challenges, concepts and workplace applications of behavioral health. Program options include:

  • On-site training with a flexible schedule to meet staff availability
  • Continuing education credit for completion of the 30-hour Certificate

Healthy Jobs has implemented Behavioral Health Certificate trainings at CharterCare Health and South County Health, upskilling 25 incumbent workers.

Community Health Worker (CHW) Certificate Training Program

This 72-hour curriculum is aligned with the RI Department of Health standards and competencies. The program meets the 70-hour education requirement for RI CHW certification.

CHWs are frontline public health workers. They are trusted members of our communities and have a close understanding of the communities served. CHWs act as a bridge to complement and enhance the work performed by many other health and social service professionals.

Four CHW trainings have been completed through Healthy Jobs RI with a total of 50 graduates:

  • January - April 22, 2018, Rhode Island College

  • March - May, 2018, Care New England, Providence, RI

Community Health Worker Association of RI (CHWARI)

Healthy Jobs RI funding supports the rejuvenation of the CHWARI including the director, Sarah Lawrence.
