​​Master of Arts in Teaching

Master of Arts in Teaching is an initial teacher licensure graduate program for individuals with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant licensure area.​

Admissions Process for all Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program Applicants

Step 1

Applicant begins with the submission of an application in College Net using the Apply Online button above.

  • Once all application materials are submitted, the materials are downloaded and sent to the appropriate department where materials are shared with the advisor.
  • The advisor reviews the application, scores the essay, recommends for admission, obtains all signatures on the application then sends the signed application page and essay rubric to the FSEHD Associate Dean’s office.

Step 2

The FSEHD associate dean reviews the materials and sends the applicant a letter that includes:

  • Information about next steps. If the application is complete, the applicant will be directed to meet with an advisor.
  • The advisor and applicant will design a plan of study which will include all program requirements that will lead to teacher certification.

Step 3

The FSEHD associate dean reviews the materials and sends the applicant a letter that includes:

  • Before submitting the plan of study to FSEHD Associate Dean’s Office, the following signatures are required: student, advisor, department chair. Additionally, for Secondary and All Grades: World Languages, Art, and Music Education, signatures must include the content area department chair and the Arts and Sciences associate dean.
  • Upon submission to FSEHD, the Associate Dean reviews, approves, and signs the plan of study, the applicant is matriculated and receives an acceptance letter from the Associate Dean’s Office.​
