Youth work is a field of study, as well as a field of practice. Our graduates reflect a depth of knowledge, and a commitment to using that knowledge to inform experiences they co-construct with youth in the field.

Build communities of learners.
Youth workers are creative, competent leaders, and their practice is enhanced by the opportunity to teach with and learn from peers, mentors and youth in the field.

Together with our students, we uphold a commitment to systematically evaluate, analyze and share research that examines the processes and outcomes of quality youth work.

Develop youth work leaders
Our graduates are cutting edge professionals who understand theory and practice, have a clear professional identity, are able to navigate multiple contexts, and can advocate for themselves and youth.
The RIC Youth Development program goals are aligned with the
Rhode Island Core Knowledge and Core Competencies for After School and Youth Development Professionals.
