Undergraduate

Undergraduates at Rhode Island College have the opportunity to study and practice poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction on a variety of levels. An introductory course provides students with an overview of the techniques involved in multiple genres of Creative Writing. Advanced courses in each of the three genres allow for further refinement of these skills, as does our capstone course, in which class members do more focused work in one of the genres. English majors also may choose to pursue a Concentration in Creative Writing and/or to complete an Honors Thesis in Creative Writing under the guidance of one of four full-time faculty members. In addition, students have the chance to gain experience with publishing as staff members of the college literary magazine, Shoreline.
