Sandra is a licensed mental health counselor, who began working at RIC part time in December of 2018. Sandra attended the University of Rhode Island for undergraduate studies and completed her Master’s and her CAGS from RIC in Counseling in 2014. She specializes in working with students with a range of anxiety and depression issues, by providing compassionate and empathetic care in a professional and safe setting. She looks forward to meeting with students to begin working on helping to get through some of these most difficult times, whether it be with anxiety, depression, grief, family issues, or just day to day stressors.

Sandra identifies the therapeutic experience as a collaborative approach based on the needs of each individual student. She believes that by identifying and changing negative thoughts, individuals can work on changing their feelings and reactions. Sandra works closely with the client to build self-esteem, promote self-awareness, and conduct change within the client. Outside of the counseling center, Sandra manages a private practice and enjoys spending time with her family and her cat.
