Professional Studies and Continuing Education (PSCE) extends the educational offerings and resources of Rhode Island College (RIC) and provides administrative programming support and assistance to affiliated agencies and organizations on and off campus.

RIC’s continuing education, workforce development, professional development, personal enrichment and cultural/community programs serve adult students, immigrants and undocumented refugees, unemployed and underemployed members of the workforce, chief executives, nurses, PreK-12 teachers and administrators, social workers, childcare providers, English language learners and managers and supervisors in the public and private sectors.  Cultural and community initiatives include conference and event programming on issues and topics related to STEAM initiatives, sustainability, Native American culture, financial literacy content for K-12 teachers and women in higher education; programming for RI schoolchildren includes campus tours and presentations on sustainability that make use of RIC’s  Bee Education Center, campus garden and greenhouse.

Summer and Early Spring sessions and faculty-led travel provide degree and nondegree undergraduate and graduate students with access to traditional, specialized and intensive courses offered to accelerate and maximize college study.

PSCE units and programs include Continuing Education, Summer Sessions, Early Spring Session, Faculty-Led Travel, Outreach Programs, Career Development Center, RI STEAM Center, ESL Intensive and ExCEL Programs, Economic and Leadership Development, Sustainability Programs, Langevin Center for Design, Innovation and Advanced Manufacturing and various cultural and community programs.

PSCE needs, values and depends on our campus and community partners to support effective programs.  All CE courses and programs are offered in cooperation with RIC schools and departments.  For partnering agencies and organizations, PSCE provides assistance with establishing courses and workshops and with identifying College resources that support continuing education activities.  Rhode Island College has a long history of providing such assistance to business and industry and to public and private schools and agencies.
