The Rhode Island College Police Department maintains the HIGHEST RATIO of professionally experienced law enforcement personnel of the three state institutions of higher learning.
- ALL RIC Campus Police personnel are REQUIRED to be successful graduates of the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy PRIOR to hiring
- ALL have served with municipal or state police agencies PRIOR TO BEING EMPLOYED by the college
- MOST have served previously in Supervisory, Staff, Command or Administrative capacities
- Unlike the remaining state institutions, Rhode Island College does not maintain a supportive staff of non-sworn personnel. With the exception of the Clery Coordinator, all members of the department are Rhode Island Police Officers Commission on Standards and Training(POST) certified police officers.
