Bachelor’s to Master’s Program:
B.S. to M.S. in Operations Management

B.S. to M.S. Program Information

The B.S. to M.S. program is for students who are currently pursuing their undergraduate degree and would like to apply for conditional acceptance into the Master of Science in Operations Management program.

Students can apply for conditional admission to the B.S. to M.S. program after completing 72 undergraduate credits, with at least 12 of those credits in Business courses taken at RIC. Students can begin taking graduate courses after completing 90 undergraduate credits. If students remain in good standing after completing the Bachelor’s degree, they are granted full admission to the MS program.

Students who are accepted into the B.S. to M.S. program will complete MGT 455 and one 500-level Business course (i.e. MGT530, MGT536, MGT537, MGT542, MGT 543, MGT544, MGT545, MGT546, MGT547) which will count for both the B.S. and M.S. degrees.

Additionally, students may take up to two additional 500 that will count towards only the M.S. degree. These courses will be taken in the student’s senior year which can include the early spring or summer sessions.

Mission Statement

The Rhode Island College Master of Science in Operations Management B.S. to M.S. program is designed to provide knowledge and skills that can be applied at the strategic and operational levels of both for-profit and not-for- profit organizations. The program focuses on managing those processes that produce and distribute goods and services and in effectively leading and shaping the workplace in which those processes are carried out. Practitioners who seek applied, functional knowledge and skills will benefit from this program in Operations Management.​​

Admission Requirements

Current admissions requirements will remain the same:

  1. Completed application form accompanied by a $50 nonrefundable application fee.
  2. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  3. Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate records.
  4. Three academic or professional letters of recommendation addressing the student’s potential to succeed in a graduate program.
  5. The GRE admissions requirement is waived for BA/MA applicants. If a student’s final GPA is below a 3.0 a GMAT or GRE may be required.​​
