Academic Affairs

As a comprehensive institution with five schools, Rhode Island College serves the educational needs of the citizens of the state, the nation, and beyond. The College is the largest producer of teachers in the state, and it is a primary source of health care professionals: nurses, medical imaging staff, social workers, and counselors. The college graduates businesspeople, artists, musicians, scientists, educators, and leaders in many different areas, contributing to the state’s vibrancy and economic development. It is a powerful force for the liberal arts in a broad spectrum of disciplines. It is an exciting and energetic community of students, faculty, and staff.

The Academic Affairs Division includes all of the activities and people central to the teaching and scholarly mission of Rhode Island College. The full-time and part-time faculty and professional staff are organized among the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the Feinstein School of Education and Human Development, the School of Business, the School of Nursing, and the School of Social Work. These units are complemented by the community-education and workforce development mission of the Office of Professional Studies and Continuing Education. Each year, about 6,500 students are served in their pursuit of bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees as well as a large number of students who pursue certificates or who enrich their knowledge and skills through continuing education programs.
